Dementia Resources

Every Monday morning, I offer an Expressive Arts Therapy workshop at Eden Gardens Compassionate Dementia Care facility. I pull on work I have done in many different settings and with different populations over the last 35 years. The following is a list of relevant resources related to Expressive Arts Therapy work with the elderly and people living with dementia. It is not an exhaustive list - simply some of the resource people, workshops, links, and videos that I have found fascinating and inspiring.

For Expressive Arts Therapists and Creative Arts Therapists, the workshops and training opportunities listed can also be a way of expanding one’s toolbox working with a variety of creative modalities. Many of them apply to different therapeutic populations and clients of all ages.

I was invited to give an in-person presentation “EXA and Dementia: The Big Surprise!” for the CATA-OEATA national conference on September 27, 2025 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. (Canadian Art Therapy Association/Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association)

As part of the OEATA Post-Conference Highlight series, I will be offering an online version of this workshop on January 16, 2025.
